Bath Soap: What’s Good To Use And What’s Not

Monday, April 8th, 2013

Either before work or before bed people all over the world turn on the water in their showers and hop on in. In an effort to rid dirt and crime they reach for their loyal friend: the soap.  Everyone has their own ideal on what the perfect soap is but not all bath soap is created equal. There are tons of soap options out there in many form and it is about time that we learn what they are and what they can and can’t do for us for both cleaning and skin health.

1. Bar of Soap

The bar of soap is the quintessential bathroom soap item.  It is what one thinks of when they think about soaping up in a nice warm bath or shower.  The bar of soap is not always good though.  Many come with artificial ingredients and chemicals.  They also come with fragrances which can clog and irritate pores.  As such, this item should never be used on the face unless it is a specific facial bar.  For those of you with normal skin a bar of soap will work just fine but for those with sensitive skin be on the watch for your skin drying out as these bars tend to lack hydration and moisturizers.  These items have also been known to become slippery and fly right out of the users hand.  Also, keep on the look out for bars that will actually clean the dirt off without leaving a slimy or greasy residue behind.  I mean what is the point of taking a shower if you are just going to come out feeling more dirty than before you got in?

The 5 “Weirdest” Bathrooms in the World

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013

What is it about bathrooms that we just have to push the limits? For some people, the simple porcelain bowl is not enough. They need things to be weirder, wackier, more wild – a bathroom that visitors will remember forever. And frankly, we think that’s GREAT! In fact, at Trade Winds Imports we fully support anyone that wants to let creativity get the best of them when it comes to bathrooms. Even if that creativity results in bathrooms that are a little… well, weird. So in order to show support for our fellow bathroom lovers, we scoured the internet to bring you the weirdest bathroom we could find. We came up with quite a list. Hope you enjoy these odd bathroom designs as much as we do!

Facts About the Bathroom

Thursday, March 7th, 2013

Home owners tend to spend tons of money re-doing their bathrooms to make them look more inviting and relaxing. People spend tones of time in the bathroom taking showers, and baths and even getting ready for work. One fact that you may have not known is that the bathroom is the most used room in the house!

There are tones of other facts about the bathroom that you may or may not want to know. Either way, they are pretty interesting!

- People spend about three years of their life on the toilet.

- Food particles and blood left on the toothbrush can overtime become harmful. To clean them, put a drop of anti-microbial oil on them such as peppermint to dissuade bacteria from flourishing.

Matt Damon’s Bathroom Strike

Wednesday, February 13th, 2013

How long do you think you could go without a relieving trip to the good ole John? A day, maybe two? Well, Matt Damon is on a mission, an extended mission, of no toilet use (I repeat, NO TOILET USE) until there is access to sanitary water for all. So who’s in?

“In protest of this global tragedy, until this issue is resolved, until everybody has access to clean water and sanitation, I will not go to the bathroom,” claimed Damon in front of a group of reporters.

How NOT to Break Your Arm in the Bathroom (The Liriano ‘Oopsy’)

Friday, January 25th, 2013

Talk about a balk play!

Snapping your humerus bone in the bathroom is not the most common (nor the funniest) injury I have heard of, or the second. Actually, I don’t know anyone who has done that, besides the Pirates lefty pitcher, Francisco Liriano. But bathrooms CAN be dangerous. So I thought now would be an excellent time to talk about bathroom safety, and discuss all the ways Liriano could have possibly broken his non-dominant arm in a “bathroom fall” and how to prevent it happening to you too!

SO… How Could Francisco Liriano Have Broken His Arm In The Bathroom?

… And… how could it have been prevented?

Top Ten Strangest Toilet Clogs

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

Usually a toilet clog is not something you want to advertise to the world. However, there are some items you just cannot believe were pulled from someone’s plumbing. In a recent issue of Angies List, professional plumbers were polled about the bizarre toilet clogs that do not come from our bowels (we hope)! Here is a list of some of the unfortunate items: (more…)

Unravel An Entire Roll of Toilet Paper Digitally! No Mess!

Thursday, August 16th, 2012

Want to take five minutes and play with some toilet paper? No, seriously. Check out this fascinating little digital diversion. It serves no purpose, it has no real reason to be, and yet, it is endlessly entertaining! Alright, well, maybe not endlessly, but it’s amusing enough to run you a solid five minutes. Just scroll your mouse wheel over the toilet paper roll and sit back, mesmerized, as the entire roll unravels before you. It’s something you know you’ve always wanted to do (come on now! Who hasn’t looked at the TP and thought about letting it all just unwind and collect in a fluffy pile on the floor?). This time, though, it’s on a website instead of in your bathroom. There’s absolutely zero mess to worry about!

Sim Jae-Duck’s Marvelous Toilet House, and the Birth of the World Toilet Association

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

There was once an old woman who lived in a toilet -
Such an odd home, I can’t fathom she’d enjoyed it
- Mother Goose (sort of)

I’ve heard of people in crappy living situations but this is a whole new level of weird. Imagine living in a fully functional, completely modern home – but shaped like the world’s largest toilet! And no, this isn’t some nursery rhyme gone awry. One man actually did this!

Whatever you do, don’t flush.
