Tired of your current bathroom décor? Don’t worry, there are plenty of others out there in the same boat. With the current economy bathroom makeovers are few and far apart.
What is one of the first things that comes to mind when remodeling a bathroom? For some it may be what type of materials to use, for others it might have something to do with wanting a nice big tub or rain shower. Actually, the key though when it comes to bathroom makeovers is the COST and how to use your money effectively.
According to illuminating data from the Queens Chronicle, the average cost of a mid-sized bathroom remodel is $16,000.
We also see that the areas that use the highest proportion of your budget are as follows:
Labor: 20%
Cabinetry and hardware: 16%
Fixtures: 15%
Faucets and Plumbing: 14%
By doing it yourself or by bribing friends to help by offering dinner you can save a big chunk of your budget.
Other ways to save on bathroom makeovers include saving your existing bathtub and tiles and re-glazing them. Not only does this re-use your existing pieces but it can also save a bunch of money cause you won’t have to replace them.
You can also easily change the look of your bathroom by giving it a quick coat of paint and by updating some accessories.
